it is one thing to state that the os of your choice is up to you but there are no universal drivers for printers, modems, sound cards, svga etc. there needs in those areas to be an alternative to windows or specific debian drivers for the on board hardware. do your tryable systems consider this? add the answer to

you can always just install whatever os you want after buying a computer. or go to ANY local shop that will sell you one without an os.

its not like this is an issue. frankly if you are knowledgeable enough to install your own non windows os, then you probably want something better than a dell anyway.

meaning this argument is kinda pointless.

Recently bought a naked (and petite!) server PC from Tranquil PC. They’re an outfit based in Manchester specializing in low-power “green” PCs. While most of their range ship with Windows you can buy almost any of their models sans OS. For example, here’s their “barebones server” which always ships “naked”:

They used to offer a box with Ubuntu installed by default but dropped that a while back (I guess that most of their customers who want Linux on their machine wish to install it themselves to customize the installation in some fashion).
