I’ve used them – bought a high-spec laptop (2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM etc) with no OS, and installed Ubuntu Hardy (later updated to Intrepid) on it with little problem. The only hassle is recompiling the WiFi support every time there’s a kernel update. Had one heart-stopping time a few months back when it suddenly refused to boot – rang their tech support line who suggested it might be a faulty RAM module. When I took the bottom panel off it turned out that both RAM modules had popped out of their sockets(!). I replaced them and all was OK.

I’ve had three computers from PC Specialist. All are now installed with Kubuntu 9.04. No problems whatsoever with hardware as you select what you want as you specify your box (so check for Linux compatibility first for addons!).

Had very minor technical faults with 2 of them: on one the Intel CPU fan became loose during the delivery – easily fixed and not their fault! On the latest machine one of two 2GB RAM module went faulty after 4 days – what a bummer! BUT very helpful technical support and immediate posting to me of replacements. I’d recommend them.
