FAQ
What is that logo?
It is the bottom half of a 3 from the DejaVu Sans font rotated 90 degrees and mirrored. This is then placed on a keycap image from the Nuvola icon set designed by David Vignoni. Anything you see other than a rotated 3 is all in your head.
What about places that sell computers with Linux pre-installed?
Great, they deserve an honorable mention, but they are not truely butt naked unless there is an option to remove it.
You can get a refund!
Apparently you can get a refund on an unwanted operating system. That isn’t the point. I don’t buy things so I can take them back.
Some stores will do a special order on request, can they be included?
They might well do, but we are celebrating and promoting stores that sell naked computers up front and over the counter.
What about places that sell components and kits?
Component stores are not that interesting if you just want to buy a computer. If they sell complete kits as a bundle (without software of course) then we will give that an honourable mention. The other criteria is that the minimum order quantity must be a single unit, we are not interested in wholesalers.
Your site design sucks, that is an almost unmodified default Wordpress theme
Yes. This is your opportunity to step forward and help make it better.
But Naked Computers encourage piracy!
Absolutely not. We prefer to call such activities “copyright infringment” because equating knocked off software with an armed attack on a ship at sea seems somewhat disproportionate. We would never condone copyright infringement, there are a huge range of high quality Free and Open Source operating systems that would grace a naked computer, or you could just leave it naked and appreciate it in it’s natural form.
